Hitches
Hitches are types of knots that are used to fasten a rope to an object or another rope. The object could be a post, pole, pipe, tree trunk, etc. These knots are usually simple to tie and secure. Some of them are friction hitches that help in climbing (including tree climbing) by attaching to a rope in a way that can be easily adjusted. Some hitches are used for tying fenders to boats, tying guy lines, and securing horses to fence posts, trees, hitching rails, etc.
